Chicago Chopin Society Presents
Christmas Spectacular 2016 with Lincolnwood Chamber
The Chicago Chopin Society and Lincolnwood Chamber Orchestra returns to the Copernicus Center, 5216 W. Lawrence, for “Christmas Spectacular 2016: A Celebration of Symphony, Song, and Sing-along” on Sunday Dec 18, 3PM. The program features composer/pianist Jaroslaw Golembiowski, celebrating his 30 years of music making in Chicago.
Conductor Philip Simmons with be joined by soloists:
Marlena Dzis, soprano
Luis Antonio Galvez-Alcantara, tenor
Joanna Turska, flute
and vocalist Wendy Parman
performing works by Mr. Golembiowski, Fryderyk Chopin, Leroy Anderson, Cesar Franck, Gaetano Schiassi,
and a new sing-along medley of English and Polish Christmas favorites arranged specifically for this event
Christmas Spectacular 2016 offers something for everyone: well known carols, popular and sacred works, and new music written in the spirit of the Holidays. In the first half, from the keyboard Mr. Golembiowski will reminisce about his life in music, sharing Christmas traditions from around the world, great music, and good will. The second half will feature the orchestra, under the direction of Mr. Simmons, culminating in a new Christmas Sing-along Medley which includes such favorites as “Joy to the World,” Silent Night” (In English and Polish), and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.” Oh come all ye faithful, It’s the most Wonderful Time of the Year!
By bringing together the long-standing support of the Polish cultural community and the broader classical music audience base of Chicago, American Music Festivals and the Chicago Chopin Society are sharing musical heritage, raising the artistic awareness on Chicago’s Northwest side, and working to develop a sustainable program at the Copernicus Center.
