“Helena. The Story of Modjeska”

On April 26th 2019, at 8 PM. guests are invited to a spectacular event in the Sabina P. Logisz Great Hall of the Polish Museum of America, titled “Helena. The story of Modjeska”, by Kazimierz Braun. (Polish language performance) Helena will be portrayed by Maria Nowotarska, a professional actress with 60 years of experience in the performing arts. After finishing her studies in Krakow at the School for Higher Theatrical Studies, she worked at the nearby Juliusz Slowacki Theater.
Since 1990, she actively takes part in the theater life in Toronto, and is the co-founder, artistic director, choreographer, producer, and actress at the Institute for Poetry, Music and Theater.
Maria Nowotarska will be a guest of the Polish Museum of America for the second time. In April of 2017, performing alongside her daughter, she appeared in Kazimierz Braun’s “RADIATION – The story of Marie Sklodowska-Curie” occurring on the aforementioned honor’s 150th birthday anniversary.

In this lecture will show you how to distinguish between Mazur, Kujawiak Oberek, Motifs of Highlanders and Jewish music. Will help you to infuse them with the Polish national character and poetic flow. Additionally will present arrangement of Mazurkas for different instruments.

Spending a repertoire from Gregorian chant today Beatles and beyond the group is presenting its 25th anniversary season under funding Artistic Director Jonathan Miller. This season's concerts prepared by principal music director John Williams Trotter anD renowned guest music directors will be presented at age venues in the Chicago area.
